VISUAL ARTS

The Visual Arts program at Greenburgh Eleven is a comprehensive program designed to engage all learners in a culturally responsive curriculum.  Students benefit from being exposed to a variety of ways of making art from many cultures and time periods. This teaches students that there are many ways of solving problems. Each day a new world of discovery and creation opens up in our art studio classroom. Teaching artist, Elizabeth Barksdale, guides students to explore new materials and processes with an open mind in a classroom based on mutual respect and appreciation. Students develop fine motor and artistic skills as they express their thoughts and feelings as creative problem solvers, channeling their energy into constructive expressions as valued members of our community.

With the arts we shape our world. Through education, we shape the future as we help each student reach their potential. In our art education program, each student is empowered to express their voice constructively. The world is richer when all voices are heard.
